Real Estate Standards Organization, or RESO, was incorporated in November 2011 as an independent, not-for-profit trade organization that was previously a section of the National Association of REALTORS®. RESO actively develops, adopts and implements open and accepted data standards and processes across all real estate transactions. RESO provides an environment for the development and implementation of data standards and processes that facilitate software innovation, ensures portability, eliminates redundancies and obtains maximum efficiencies for all parties participating in real estate transactions. RESO’s work products are open source technical data standards. RESO has more than 625 active member organizations that participate in standards development, adoption and utilization, including the National Association of REALTORS®, multiple-listing services, real estate associations, brokerages and industry technology providers. RESO is a virtual based company incorporated in the state of Illinois with a physical address in North Carolina.


Job Description:

The Membership and Marketing Manager is responsible for assisting the Chief Executive Officer and coordinating directly with the Chief Administration Officer in managing, developing, coordinating, directing and administering RESO’s membership, marketing and standards certification operations. As an organization that spans North America, the Membership and Marketing Manager’s physical office location is virtual, which means no relocation or daily commuting to physical office space is required for the successful candidate so long as the individual has the demonstrated ability to successfully work virtually. As a 501(c)6 non-profit organization, the small staff team exemplifies excellence in team work, sharing of successes and challenges and working together to provide superb service to our customers and outstanding results to our Board of Directors.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary role and responsibilities include three categories: Membership, Marketing & Communications and Standards Certification.
  • Works directly for RESO’s Chief Executive Officer.
  • Works directly with, assists and coordinates all activities with RESO’s Chief Administration Officer.
  • Coordinates all responsibilities and activities alongside of RESO’s third-party association management company, IMI Association Executives, and underlying staff assigned to RESO.
  • Assists CEO with the implementation of RESO’s strategic plan.
  • Represents, with dignity, RESO at client functions where presence is required.
  • Membership:
    • Assists with the management and implementation of all membership programs and projects.
    • Assists in producing membership performance reports for RESO’s monthly Board of Directors meetings.
    • Assists and serves as an additional point of contact for membership support needs including online account and contact management, member communication, membership renewals and conference registrations
    • Manages membership sales including new memberships, retention of current members, statistics, reporting and assists with RESO member workgroup participation.
    • Assists with RESO member workgroup participation including member setup, schedule coordination for virtual meetings, meeting polls, online voting and reporting.
  • Marketing & Communications
    • Coordinates and operationalizes all marketing efforts and activities in partnership with RESO’s contracted marketing firm.
    • Evaluates existing programs, services and procedures to determine progress toward RESO’s strategic plan, stated goals and objectives and recommends changes to the CEO.
    • Maintains RESO’s marketing and communication contact databases including the Organizational Unique ID Database.
    • Assists in producing marketing performance reports for RESO’s monthly Board of Directors and Marketing Committee meetings.
    • Optimizes the integration of communications systems.
    • Oversees and administers all aspects of content management including all websites, social media channels, blogs, press releases, marketing material, whitepapers, business case studies, RESO standards environments, the RESO Data Dictionary Wiki and presentation material. Coordinates with RESO’s website software engineer and RESO’s Data Dictionary Wiki administrator as needed.
    • Manages online presence and underlying content publishing across all mediums including websites, blogs and social media channels.
    • Acts as a liaison with members, partner organizations, RESO staff and the marketing firm.
    • Administers RESO’s marketing committee including creating agendas, maintaining volunteer participation and coordinating meeting schedules.
    • Long-term will become the Chair of RESO’s Marketing Committee, currently chaired by the CEO.
    • Attends and assists onsite with RESO Conferences hosted in various locations within the U.S. twice a year with 250-400 attendees. Duties include conference marketing activities, attendee recruitment, assisting with onsite attendee registration and conference staffing, speaker coordination, attendee communication, conference app content management, ordering supplies, and coordinating post conference follow-up activities.
    • Attends and assists in all aspects of the RESO’s marketing presence and EXPO booth at the National Association of REALTORS® trade shows at various locations within the U.S. twice a year.
    • Assists with RESO’s outreach efforts at other industry conferences, tradeshows and events.
    • Assists with RESO’s Ambassador Program.
    • Oversees and manages graphic design creation for RESO’s online presence, conferences, presentations, the RESO Data Dictionary Wiki and marketing material.
    • Assists in the design, creation, content and distribution schedules of membership communication including newsletters
    • Manage RESO conference, member and industry wide surveys including content creation, distribution, statistics, reporting, scheduling and coordination with RESO’s marketing firm and RESO’s Chief Administration Officer.
  • Certification
    • Assists in the administration and operations of RESO’s standards certification program
    • Coordinates with and assists RESO’s Certification and Compliance Project Manager directly
    • Assists with tracking and managing all certifications including status, renewals, expirations in online shared spreadsheets and databases
    • Administers and provides direct organizational communication as it relates to certification including awards, expiration notices, use of RESO certification logos, certification content and RESO trademark agreements
    • Generates and issues certification awards (PDF) along with notifications and relevant certification logos and communications
    • Performs as the point of contact for non-technical certification inquiries
    • Assist with processing new application information from RESO’s membership management system into certification tracking databases
    • Process trademark agreements including distribution, notifications, tracking and status reporting
    • Potentially assist with performing RESO Data Dictionary certification tests for bulk applications
    • Potentially assist with quality assurance testing of RESO certification platform
    • Potentially assist with research and analysis across industry wide certification completed

Experience:

Knowledge of and experience with all facets of membership and marketing management including, but not limited to:

  • Publications, both print and electronic
  • Graphics/Logo management
  • Committee management, including reporting and meeting coordination/facilitation

Real estate experience preferred (real estate technology products, real estate data, familiar with National Association of REALTORS®, Association of REALTORS® and Multiple Listing Services)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects simultaneously with remote team members
  • Strong and effective leader and manager of external marketing firms and underlying staff
  • Demonstrated track record of innovative successes along with the ability to effectively operationalize a vision / ability to think strategically and perform tactically
  • Strong analytical and critical decision making skills utilized to drive continuous quality improvement in operations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical standards experience a plus
  • Ability to provide necessary home office environment, computer equipment, telephone, internet connectivity and core software needed to complete required responsibilities
  • Ability to travel nationally to conference and tradeshows up to six times per year, up to five days each time.
  • Ability to plan and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups
  • Short and long term project management skills
  • Ability to develop and create presentations
  • Ability to organize effectively and maintain detailed records of procedures and actions
  • Strong customer service and support skills
  • Knowledgeable of all programs in Microsoft and Apple Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Keynote, Pages)
  • Knowledgeable of all programs in Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Spreadsheets, Analytics, Hangouts, Drive)
  • Knowledgeable of membership management platforms
  • Experienced with all social media platforms
  • Experienced with virtual meetings, GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar experience a plus
  • Experienced with WordPress
  • Experienced with generating PDFs, electronic signature software and survey and polling software including Survey Monkey and Doodle
  • Experienced with project management software, Wrike experience a plus
  • Atlassian Confluence platform experience a plus

Academic Qualifications:

Minimum four-year, college degree and/or minimum of four years of direct or commensurate experience
