Front End Designer and Developer

SUMMARY OF POSITION

W&R Studios is seeking a Front End Designer and Developer who will play a key role on a growing, agile product development team. This person will work with designers and developers on existing and new web and mobile apps for one of the real estate industry’s beloved software companies. This position will be based out of either our Boulder, Colorado office or Huntington Beach, California headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND CHALLENGES

• Collaborate with the product design team to implement interfaces that are simple to use and consistent across multiple web and mobile apps.
• Use web standards to build solutions based on detailed design concepts
• Craft a responsive style guide which offers a global front end framework to use across complimentary products. The style guide should offer developers UI components for typography, grids, forms, buttons, tables, and menus.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Opinionated on the benefits and pitfalls of using existing frameworks.
• Writing semantic HTML markup
• Building maintainable CSS
• Coding JavaScript that doesn’t rely on libraries to accomplish innovative interactions
• Experience with responsive design development
• Git source control and using pull requests
• Sass

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Well-versed in fundamental visual and interactive design discipline
• Using color, style, iconography, web typography, information design, and visual hierarchy to clarify data, indicate relationships, and hint at behavior.
• Experience working in an iterative, agile environment
• Experience with visual design tools (e.g. Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails
