Position Overview

We are looking for a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for working with the VP, Premium Services, to develop and operationalize the premium product strategy in order to meet corporate goals for revenue growth and innovation. 

  • Works directly with customers to understand challenges and market opportunities.
  • Gathers and prioritizes product and market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research (supported by on-going visits to customers), conducting focus groups, processing and managing customer feedback and suggestions, and gathering industry expert opinions and assessments.
  • Evaluates build/buy/partner options to bring solutions to market.
  • Negotiates business relationships with partners which includes but is not limited to agreement terms and contractual obligations.
  • Presents business cases for new business opportunities, communicating value proposition, to organization including senior management.
  • With Marketing, jointly develops cross channel event and marketing plan to drive sales. 
  • Collaborates closely with Marketing to define enhancements to Bright’s marketing and e-commerce platforms to better drive awareness and sales for premium products.
  • Identifies and evaluates competitive offerings to ensure that Bright products remain competitive in the marketplace.
  • Works with Marketing Department to identify and develop product positioning and go-to-market strategies.
  • Identifies key product implementation risks and works to mitigate them.
  • Assists in the creation of appropriate collateral materials in support of product initiatives.
  • Tracks all product defects and drives them to resolution.
  • Provides training and support assistance to Sales, Marketing and Customer Support Departments as required for new premium products.
  • Collaborates with marketing team to develop innovative programs that drive demand.
  • Performs other duties and assignments associated with the position that are reasonably assigned to support the overall needs of the business.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing with 6 - 9 years related experience which includes but is not limited to a thorough knowledge of product development, marketing principles and product management in a computer/Internet production or marketing-related field. Internet, technical, or marketing experience required. Pragmatic Marketing or similar training preferred.  Strong knowledge of software product management and Agile development process is required. Familiarity with marketing automation tools such as Marketo, Pardot and Omniture, and Google Analytics is desired.  Knowledge of software development tools is a plus but not required. 

Incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.  Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously is required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse customer group including executives, managers and subject matter experts is essential.  Must be able to develop, refine and apply a variety of analytical methods.  Must be creative and possess excellent business judgment.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and productivity applications such as Project or Basecamp is required. Must be comfortable using collaboration tools such as Slack and CRM tools such as Salesforce.  Superior communication skills identifying needs and translating customer problems into specific product and/or service requirements is required.  Independent judgment to complete tasks that occasionally require non-standard solutions are necessary. Attention to detail and eye for quality are critical, along with an ability to grasp and present our product’s value proposition in a way that resonates and clearly articulates how we solve our customer’s problems are all essential.
