Senior Full Stack Engineer
Membio is launching MembioSync, a business intelligence platform built to help organizations engage and retain the people who matter most to them. Our pilot clients — REALTOR® associations and multiple listing services — use MembioSync to actually understand their members: who they are, what they do, and where they do it — and to engage them accordingly. But the platform itself is industry agnostic. MembioSync is a membership engagement and retention layer, and we're building toward the $1.2T non-profit and association market well beyond real estate.
We're not a household name outside of organized real estate, and we're fine with that. The organizations that do know us — some of the largest and most sophisticated associations and MLSs in the country — know us because our software actually works, our service is exceptional, and our clients love working with us. That combination is unbeatable, and it's how a small team keeps winning accounts that companies ten times our size are chasing.
We already have paying clients live on three tightly integrated Membio applications:
- Enterprise websites that integrate MLS listing data with association management data
- Consumer property search portals on RESO-standard listing APIs, built to find, save, and convert leads
- Secure member portals where members handle their profile, invoices, classes, events, and documents
MembioSync completes our platform with AI-powered intelligence fueled by AMS and MLS data, backed up with turnkey marketing automation, analytics and up to the minute market data to make MLSs and associations relevant and engaging to their participants, subscribers and members.
How We Work
We use AI deliberately and daily — not as a novelty, but as a real unlock. It makes us dramatically more productive, and that extra time and headspace goes straight back into experimentation and improving the product. It's also flattened the walls between business, product, and development: everyone on this team can directly contribute to the platform, everyone has input, and — unusually — everyone can actually act on it. We work as one seamless unit, not three departments handing work back and forth.
The Role
We're looking for a senior engineer who can genuinely read and write great code — and who is excited to do that work alongside Claude Code as a daily partner. Not someone nervous that AI is coming for their job. Someone who's already figured out how to be dramatically more productive because of it, and wants to keep pushing that further, right alongside the rest of us.
You're primarily a front-end developer at heart — you sweat the details of a good ReactJS interface — but you're just as comfortable dropping into the middle (ETLs) or the back end (Postgres, schema design, SQL) when the work needs it. You're the person who can pinch-hit anywhere on the stack, and you enjoy that variety.
We're all a little bit hotshot here — this team moves quickly and decisively. But the hotshot who's too hot to handle isn't the right fit at Membio. We're interested in someone genuinely sharp who'd rather work hard alongside people they like than chase prestige, who treats colleagues with care and humility, and who doesn't mind being part of the underdog story that quietly ends up winning. You're ingenious, imaginative, a little bit funny, and deeply dedicated to your craft — and you want to keep growing as an engineer, not just collect a paycheck.
We're also a small team, full stop. That means you'll stand out here and be valued — it also means there's no hiding. What you do matters, directly and visibly, and the work you own is load-bearing.
What You'll Do
- Work across our entire platform — front end, back end, and everything in between
- Pair with Claude Code daily as your coding partner: prompting it well, reviewing its output critically, and knowing when to take the wheel yourself
- Ship code that's built to spec, tested to acceptance standards, and held to your own high bar
- Design and evolve schemas and queries across Postgres and other data stores as the platform grows
- Pitch in on DevOps and AWS infrastructure issues when needed
- Participate fully in Scrum — estimating, planning, and owning your commitments
- Work directly with our VP of Product, Software Architect, and CEO to help shape the roadmap
- Talk to clients directly when it's useful — you understand their business, not just their ticket
- Help scope, estimate, and prioritize new feature work
- Bring your sense of humor and your collaborative streak to a team that genuinely likes working together
What You Bring
ReactJS, NodeJS on the front end; PostgreSQL (including Aurora, multi-schema/multi-tenant architectures) on the back end; deployed on AWS (ECS, IAM Identity Center, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, cross-account access patterns); Elasticsearch for search and analytics; and Claude Code as your everyday pair — this isn't optional tooling, it's core to how we build.
- 7–10 years of professional software engineering experience
- Real fluency with ReactJS and NodeJS, and the judgment to know when they're the wrong tool
- Strong SQL skills and comfort with relational databases — Postgres experience strongly preferred; Aurora a plus
- Daily hands-on experience with Claude Code or a comparable AI-pairing workflow — this is a requirement, not a nice-to-have
- Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals (IAM, ECS or similar container orchestration, CloudWatch); direct experience with IAM Identity Center or cross-account role setups is a strong plus
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch (query construction, aggregations) a plus, not required
- Experience with data integrations and APIs
- Excellent verbal and written communication — you can talk to engineers (and everyone else too!)
- Agile/Scrum experience
- A collaborative attitude and a genuine liking for the people you work with and for
Nice to have: a CS degree or related field, strong documentation chops, a good sense of humor, and real curiosity about where AI-assisted engineering is headed.
Salary and Benefits
Candidate must be willing to spend several days a year in the Portland area for company meetings (travel reimbursed at standard rates). Occasional additional travel may be required for industry events or client meetings. |
