Software Quality Assurance Technician

Job Summary:

The QA Technician role plays an important part in our company’s product development process. The QA responsibilities include designing and implementing tests, debugging, and defining corrective actions for all RMLS systems. They will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics.

This position is performed mostly remote but does require you to be available to come into the Portland office for meetings as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Apply principles of software quality assurance to create test planning, test cases, test code, and test automation, based on product design, requirements, specification documents and other available information
• Review and verify design and requirements documentation is current with functionality developed and delivered
• Provide regular reports to manager regarding assigned projects
• Work closely with the application development team
• Keep abreast of applicable industry software testing and make recommendations for improvements to the RMLS software development lifecycle
• Participate in development planning and prioritization activities
• Act as a link between Help Desk and developers by performing initial assessment when bugs are reported. Find and document workarounds, and enter items into the defect tracking system as needed
• Other duties as directed

Requirements:

• Software quality assurance experience or education
• Structured / object oriented / iterative software development methodologies
• Experience with test automation tools
• Capable of maintaining design and requirements documentation in an iterative development environment
• Understanding of web technology such as JavaScript/jQuery/HTML/CSS/IIS
• Understanding of databases such as MS SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS
• Virtualization concept for testing servers
• Experience with various types of browser testing (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.)
• Strong interest in continuous learning about technology and computer operations
• Native mobile testing
• Experience in test automation is a plus
• Degree in computer science or related field preferred
• 2+ years of QA or development experience preferred
