CLOUD/DEVOPS ENGINEER - POSTITION SUMMARY

California Regional Multiple Listing Service (CRMLS), the largest MLS in the United States, is searching for a Cloud/DevOps Engineer to join our IT Operations team. As a Cloud/DevOps Engineer, you will be a pivotal team member responsible for optimizing, automating, and ensuring the smooth operation of our cloud environments. This role will ensure seamless operation and optimization through expert DevOps practices, driving efficiency, scalability, and security to support our organization's success.

FIRST YEAR EXPECTATIONS

These are examples of technical projects and tasks that you should be capable of completing in your role as Cloud/DevOps Engineer.

  • Gain understanding of the organization’s technology and information systems.
  • Become familiar with our existing cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Integrate SAST and DAST vulnerability scanning tools into Azure DevOps.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code practices across Azure, VMware, and AWS, enhancing deployment processes and ensuring consistent, automated resource provisioning.
  • Design and implement enhanced DR/HA architecture using Azure Well-Architected Framework best practices.
  • Restructure and organize existing cloud resources for optimized management, utilizing modern Infrastructure-as-Code and automation practices wherever possible.
  • Optimize cloud resources to ensure high availability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, automation tools, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment, monitoring, and management processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent, and minimum of seven years related cloud and/or DevOps engineering work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

At least one current devops-related professional certification such as Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert is strongly preferred.

Expertise with AWS and Azure Infrastructure and Security Operations, Security Principles and Policies, Red/Blue Team Operations, and Offensive Security. Expertise in a variety of security information and event management (SEIM), data loss prevention (DLP), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and other tools used in security operations. Working knowledge of modern application development tools and methodologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain deep understanding of information technology networking and infrastructure.
  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructures in Azure, AWS, and VMware environments.
  • Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code practices to create scalable, consistent, and automated infrastructure deployments.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure high availability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and security measures for cloud resources.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to ensure robust system health and performance.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, automation tools, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment, monitoring, and management processes.
  • Champion DevOps culture by promoting collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate infrastructure automation into the software development lifecycle.
  • Utilize expertise in Azure, VMware, and AWS services to provide optimal solutions for application deployment and scaling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents and minimize impact.
  • Collaborate with development teams to understand their infrastructure requirements and provide guidance on leveraging cloud services.
  • Document infrastructure designs, configurations, and processes to enable effective knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of systems administration practices and cloud engineering standards.
  • Proven experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, cloud engineering roles, or combination of each.
  • Strong expertise in Azure services.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code practices using tools such as Terraform and ARM templates.
  • Experience in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell, Bash, C#, or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and relevant tools like Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in cloud environments.
  • Expertise in cloud-native architecture, microservices, containers, and serverless computing.
  • Familiarity in container orchestration infrastructure, such as Kubernetes or Azure Service Fabric
  • Working knowledge of modern application development tools and methodologies.
  • Logical reasoning and effective research skills.
  • Collaborative mindset for effective teamwork.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Candidates should be skilled at the following:

  • Proven experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, cloud engineering roles, or combination of each.
  • Strong expertise in Azure services.
